Scrabble – a classic board game invented by an out of work architect during the great depression (check out the meaning) has been a favorite pastime of western families for more than five decades. I loved playing as a child and was delighted to find – after a four year search – a bit much – however, in my humble opinion it’s well worth it. To me, it’s more than just a game. As one who’s striving to learn the ‘arabic language, i see it as a learning tool, a beneficial pastime if you will. It’s an excellent and interesting way to expand your vocabulary through dictionary reasearch and asking others proficient in the language. It also strengthens your memory by recalling words you’ve learned in the past and earnestly working towards memorizing new ones. Hasbro states that teachers consider scrabble a fun and innovative way for kids to develop vocabulary, spelling, math and spatial relation skills.
